Yeah that's right, you didn't think after I did a Pokémon drawover of Anaconda last year that I wasn't gonna do something regarding the second movie 'Hunt for the Blood Orchid'
Of course, early on I planned to use the mostly male companions in place of the female ones I did for the Seviper parody last year, but it came to mind awhile ago that instead of reusing the Pokémon world I could instead use the cave-cast from Tib & TumTum, a pretty perfect roster to interchange and keep the story similar but a touch of context different.
Enjoy
"So, this must be the location of the Long Flowers!" Lad exclaimed to the rest of the tribe.
"What's the Long Flowers" Nic questioned.
"Legend has it that there exist a red flower that if eaten can make you young again. A lone traveller has used it to remain youthful for hundreds of years, still walking among us since before even our elders were born."
"What Nonsense." Lili huffed "If such flowers existed there would not be one person who found it by now."
"Perhaps that is the attitude of yours that has made it so only one person discovered these flowers. While everyone else denied it, the travelling man hoarded it to himself, until now."
"You think we can find the flowers from this painting?" Tib asked."
"Oh course we can" Nic answered, pointing at various highlights on the cave-painting "See, these two markings must be where our tribe is along with the Bear clan. This must be a river split one leading to the waterfall, the other leading to a different cave that we can enter to find the Long Flowers. We gather them back to the village and we can extend avoid becoming old."
"I suppose it couldn't hurt to have a look." Tara thought out loud."
"I'll get a piece of bark that Lili can copy a smaller painting on so we can follow it. The rest of the boys and I can get the canoes made for us to cross the water."
Unbeknownst to the soon-to-be explorers of the Tiger clan, the twins of the Bear clan had noticed the party wondering into the cave and listened in on the conversation, hiding in the shrubbery as the guys left while Lili went to sketching.
"Flowers to keep us from getting old." Fannon whispered to her brother, "You think it's real?"
"I don't know," Sen replied, "But if it is, I don't want the Tiger tribe to get them first. I have an idea. Once the coast is clear, we'll do our own drawing of the map, but it will be a fake one. We'll swap it with the real one when we can and make off towards the location while the others sail off in the wrong direction.
Hours later, while the ret were hard at work with the canoes, Sen took advantage of the distraction and switched out the map-painting Lili drew with a fake one that would sent the party on the wrong side of the river fork, leading them straight down a waterfall path, while Sen and Fannon would be on their own canoe not far behind, going down the correct path.
Sure enough, the plan worked perfectly the Tiger clan went the wrong way and relized the waterfall almost too late. Enough time to abandon the boats but not enough time to steer them back safely on land, losing their transportation.
"You go up ahead sis." Sen insisted, showing her his blowgun. "I'll follow behind the others and make sure they have no chance to catch up to us. Meet you are the spot.
Back with the others, they examined the false map they had closely, they noticed they had followed it correctly, but the waterfall symbol was clearly inaccurate to where they made the turn.
Hoping that was just the one error in the diagram, they moved forward through the woods.
After quite the long walk through the woods, an opening to a shallow-ish lake.
"Looks like we're going to have to go through." Gil said.
"Ergk, can't we go around, I don't want to get my dress wet!" Lili moaned.
"It's either that or take till nightfall till we return home." Tara huffed.
The Tiger Clan moved through the lake that went high enough to their bellybuttons, high enough to camouflage a Crocodile. Or something much larger.
Despite being the most hesitant to get in, Once Lili made the conviction she trudged through the water and got well ahead of the group.
Meanwhile Lad who started at the front eased his way to the near back to taunt Tib. Believing the red-spotted boy to be especially nervous of any nearby predators
"We better keep an eye out for crocodiles and such, and be sure to jump in and save the girls if they spring up of course. Eh Tib."
"We'll all be fine Lad." Tib scoffed.
"Probably, but it doesn't help to be SU--"
Lad suddenly slipped under the water, making a loud enough splash for the entire group to turn and look.
At first they suspected he merely slipped on something on the ground and fell, but as the kicking off his feet continued without his head poking up, they were getting nervous.
"Come on Lad!" Nic shouted. "That's not funny!"
Soon more thrashing from the water came, too wide to be from just the one person, and out of the water was Lad, raised in the massive loops of a giant snake that looked at him with hungry eyes.
Tib, Nob, Nic and Gil quickly rushed the situation despite how terrifying the python was because they weren't going to stand idle and watch Lad getting hurt, but the thrashing python kept knocking down everyone that came close, had the python been paying special attention it would have snagged Tib up as well.
Not wanting the constant interruption, the python lunged its head at lightening speed back in the water and swam away with Lad still in its grasp.
The others had no hope of catching them.
The Tiger clan continued their trek to where they suspected was the route back home for several hours, sunset was upon them and they were all tired and still traumatized at the sight of Lad being snatched by the colossal snake
They came for flowers of life and have been met with death.
The explorers thought they had found their way home when a hut was spotted up ahead, but quickly approaching it they found it to be an isolated one, not accompanied by any others.
"Still not home." Tib glummed.
"Well we'll take a break here for now. I can't walk another step." Lili argued.
While resting, Gil snatched the wooden map and took a look at it.
"No point." Nik said, "Its clearly not drawn correctly."
"Maybe its only kinda wrong Gil replied. "Maybe most of its correct and we'll find our way location more easily still."
Tib, Tara and Nob approached the hut they spotted which was pretty much empty. The wood was all dusty, there was no cloth of herbs or really anything that suggested it was used anytime recently, that perhaps whoever built it moved location long ago.
Tib however noticed a spot of red in a corner. Examining it revealed a red lotus.
"Guys! Come Quick."
Everyone entered the hut to see the vine work grown from under the floorboards that sprouted 3 flowers that matched the painting in the cave the previous day.
"You don't think this could be what we're looking for could it?" Nic questioned
"But it can't be." Tara pondered. "The map said it was in a the middle of another cave didn't it?"
"It did." Gil said, "But there was a house picture marked with a yellow streak of paint brushed over it next to the entrance. This must be that house."
"So that would mean..."
Tib looked outside and saw the nearby mountain with a large dirt hole in plain view from the 'doorway' of the house.
"That must be where we need to go!"
"Well then." Lili responded a little dejected. "Will take some time to rest up before--"
"Ow!" Nob responded slapping the back of his neck. Something small but hard could be heard clanking the wooden planks beside him.
"What is it Nob?"
The group approached him while Tib checked for where that noise came from. Finding a dart.
But who could?...
Suddenly the the shrubbery outside the hut was heard and the group ran out of the home, except for Nob who felt queasy and collapsed before he could exit. He soon found he couldn't move a single muscle at all, much to the delight of a nearby serpent.
As for the others, they spotted Sen bolting towards to dirt hole before the others rushed to surround him.
"It's you!" Nic shouted. "What are you doing here!"
"That's none of YOUR business." He replied angrily.
"He's here for the flowers!" Gil argued.
"My sister's already got the flowers." Sen ha'd "And you're not going to catch us either, not unless you want to leave your friend behind."
"What did you do to Nob!?" Tib growled.
"Don't worry, the spider poison I used doesn't kill him, it just stopped him from moving for awhile. Still what with all the tigers and bears running around, I wouldn't feel right leaving him behind if I were you. Oh, and don't follow me, I got more of the poison to use."
Sen ran the rest of the way to the cave entrance and entered.
"That cheat!" Lili yelled.
"But he's right, we can't just leave Nob here."
Suddenly a hiss as loud as a lions roar came from behind them.
Looking back at the abandoned hut, the Entrance way was blocked by another colossal snake looking directly back at them.
The group looked at the serpent all gobsmacked and terrified.
"Yo-You don't think that thing---" Tara quivered.
Gil stepped forward triumphantly. "Come on, we can still him! If we work together maybe we can pin that oversized worm down! It's 1 against 5!"
His remark would be quickly undone by the appearance of two other giant snakes.
The Tiger clan might have the numbers, but not the probably strength to match. They bolted into the cave in terror just behind Sen.
The snakes pursued.
"We've actually found it." Tara shouted. "The flowers!"
As grim as the day had been, some small amount of light could be salvaged this day.
But as they approached the surface, they noticed they were on a middle-ground section of the cliff, the vines themselves dangled over a deeper trench of water, and visible from the water, even in the rainy night situation was more and more of the giant snakes.
In the best conditions, trying to snatch the red flowers would be dangerous enough, but combined with the wet surface and the predators lurking below, it was suicide to try and grab the flowers.
But that wasn't going to be a choice.
Sen appeared behind them, his satchel in one hand and a small blow blowgun in the other.
"Looks like I have use out of your Tiger schmucks after all."
"Sen!" Tara panicked, "What are you doing!?"
"The question is what you'll be doing. My sister was supposed to meet me here, but she isn't anywhere to be seen, I can't tell if she's been and has taken any flowers. So you'll have to help me pack."
Knowing what he was suggesting, Tib tried protesting. "Now, now! Maybe she got the flowers and skedaddled to not be attacked by the snakes."
"Probably." Sen calmly replied, before tossing his satchal to Tara. "But I'm not taking chances, pack 10 of those flowers in my bag, after that you can have the rest, if you're brave enough to pick them."
"I won't do it you creep!" Tara argued.
Sen brandished his blowgun forward. "I got 2 more shots in this. Want to take your chances with the flowers? Or the snake pit?"
"Don't do it Tara!" Nic yelled. "There's four of us, any 2 of us can take him!"
Tara protested all of them. "I... I can do it. I'll get the flowers."
She trekked over the wet mud over the side, being sure to snag each vine and assure its durability before using it for support.
It took awhile for her to grab any flower, and she was careful with grabbing each one, not rushing at any point however scared she was.
Little did she know a brown widow spider was hiding in the foliage to guard itself from the raindrops, and Tara's ruffling had shock it away from its safe spot into the very satchel.
Tara had grabbed 7 flowers, she shifted to grab the 8th when suddenly the dirt under her left foot gave way and she slipped.
The panicked girl quickly grabbed onto several vines tightly, but with both gravity and the wetness on the vines, she was likely to slip soon.
"That will have to do!" Sen yelled, "Throw the bag up!"
"I can't!" Tara pleaded "I need help!"
The other 3 approached to lend her a hand but were stopped by Sen motioning his blowgun yet again.
"Throw the bag, and they can help!"
Tara hesitated to let any hand loose from the vines, but not trusting Sen to not do anything stupid, she made quick work to loosen the grip, grab the bag and one-handedly toss it up. Sen grabbed it real quick with his right hand while still training the blowgun on the others just in case.
Accidentally shoving his free hand right in the satchel, his fingers poked the brown spider hiding inside it, who bit him in turn.
The sudden sting caused him to drop his stick and caress his bite mark.
Nic quickly sprinted forward to grab the stick, he grabbed it but Sen quickly pulled the other end to keep it from being completely taken off.
Suddenly Sen found his muscles giving out, Nic managed to pull back and take the pipe off him, in doing so also lunging Sens body forward and falling down into the pit of snakes.
Tib, Tara and Nic quickly rushed to Tara's aid to try and pull her up but he grasp gave out. Not enough to completely let go, but enough for her hands to slip down the wet surface, even trying in desperation to clench her hands as hard as possible to stop was lowering down and down the surface wasn't enough, only stopping herself enough to not fall to the river aggresively.
But she nevertheless did find herself at the bottom of the river, her back smacking against the moving coils of a snake. She feared she was dead now.
But looking over, she had not caught the snakes attention. All of them it seemed were looking at Sen's paralyzed body.
With all the serpents eyeballing the Bear-boy, Tara could brush her hands from all the dirt and grim from the tumble and try the climb again, she got halfway up before she felt her hands starting to struggle again, fortunately the other 3 at the top could snag the very vines she was climbing and did the rest for her, Tara merely needed to hold on while the rest pulled her up.
Meanwhile, Sen was thrashed and consumed at the very bottom.
Tara was saved.
"Lets go!" Tib shouted. "We can't stay her for long."
"And neither will those snakes!" Lili screamed. Racing towards the very lotus spot.
Managing to grab many of the vines embedded straight into the dirt wall, twisting the vines around her palms, she pulled back with all her strength.
"What are you doing!?" Nic panicked.
"Just help me pull!" She demanded.
All four of the gang helped her with the vine pulling, the wet dirt on the cliffside was becoming fragile with the embedded roots being forced out, and soon an avalanche of mud found itself falling down into the rivery trench, turning the snakes resting ground into their very grave.
The four grabbed the satchel with the 7 lotus' and made a break from the area, not taking chances if any more snakes were in the area.
